Report: Philadelphia Eagles give edge rusher Haason Reddick permission to seek trade
Reddick, aged 29, is entering the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract with the Eagles. After two Pro Bowl seasons with the team, during which he recorded double-digit sacks, Reddick is likely seeking a raise.
Despite a disappointing season for the Eagles, who finished 11-6 after starting 10-1 and were eliminated from the playoffs in the wild card round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Reddick continued to perform well. He recorded 11 sacks in the past season, marking the fourth consecutive year in which he achieved double-digit sacks. Additionally, Reddick accumulated 23 quarterback hits and 38 total tackles, including 13 tackles-for-loss.
Despite the disparity in salary, Reddick, a Camden native and former Temple University player, expressed his desire before the 2023 season to secure a new contract with the Eagles and continue representing his city for the remainder of his career.
While the Eagles have allowed Reddick to explore trade options, there remains the possibility that he could play out his final year with the team, similar to the situation with cornerback Darius Slay last year. Slay was given permission to seek a trade but ultimately signed a new contract with the Eagles.
If Reddick does end up departing via trade, it would mark a significant change for the Eagles’ defensive line heading into the next season. With potential departures looming for key players like Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham, who are both free agents, the team could undergo substantial restructuring in the offseason.
