West Brom, Sunderland winter target’s future at Premier League club remains up in the air
Divin Mubama’s winter transfer to West Ham is still uncertain, despite interest from both West Brom and Sunderland.
When the summer transfer window opens, West Brom and Sunderland will be looking to acquire players, and the people working behind the scenes at both teams will already be keeping an eye on possible arrivals.
In January, both Championship teams conducted business. However, West Ham attacker Mubama was a reported target of both the Baggies and Black Cats, but neither team took action.
Due to concerns over his future, West Brom, Sunderland, and Everton were keeping an eye on the 19-year-old.
Furthermore, it’s still unclear what the summer will bring as the transfer window for the summer draws near.
The terms of Divin Mubama’s contract
At the end of this season, Mubama’s contract with West Ham comes to an end. Reports of discussions about a potential extension beyond the 2023–2024 campaign have surfaced, but as of yet, they have yielded no results.
In the midst of this, the gifted attacker has not played for the Hammers since January, depriving him of the consistent senior opportunities he so much wants.
Regarding Mubama’s deal, things have gone rather well, which will spark interest before the summer.
The Black Cats will play Championship football again next season, and given their transfer philosophy of signing young players and needing a striker, Mubama may well end up back on their radar.
As it stands, Mubama will be on the move for nothing this summer, but the final outcome of his contract saga and his potential destination remains to be decided.
The Baggies have yet to decide what league they’ll play in as they look set to fight it out in the Championship play-offs. Decisions over potential recruits may well have to wait until that is made.
