Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Brom, has done a “fantastic job” since taking over at The Hawthorns.

That’s according to Tony Pulis, the previous manager of the Baggies, who has also supported the Spaniard to lead the team into this season’s Championship play-offs.

After an ineffective tenure as manager of Greek team Olympiacos, Corberan rejoined the Baggies in October 2022.

Before that, he had been Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant at Leeds United. He then managed Huddersfield Town for two years, leading the team to the Championship play-off final.

Ever since taking over as West Brom manager, Corberan has managed the team with equal excellence.

Corberan has changed the Baggies’ trajectory.

After taking over a team that was three points from safety in the Championship table, the Spaniard took charge at The Hawthorns.

However, Corberan had led his team to a ninth-place finish in the Championship table at the end of that campaign, finishing only three points outside of the play-off spots.

Under the 41-year-old this season, West Brom has now expanded on that. The Baggies are currently sixth in the rankings, six points ahead of seventh-place Hull City, who do have a game in hand, with two games left in the regular season.

In order to secure a place in the top six, Corberan’s team must get four points from their remaining two games: at home against mid-table Preston North End and away against relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday.

It appears that Pulis is a supporter of the Spaniard and thinks he will lead West Brom into the play-offs at the conclusion of the season.

Tony Pulis issues the West Brom decision.

As a former West Brom manager, Pulis seemed to find Corberan impressive in both personal and professional spheres.

Because of this, he believes the team has a decent chance of finishing in the top six and earning a position in the Premier League.

Regarding the current Baggies manager, Pulis stated:

“Carlos Corberan is similar to Marcelo Bielsa and I believe he did an excellent job at Huddersfield.” He probably doesn’t think about anything but winning the next game on a Tuesday or Saturday because he is highly committed to his work.

I’ve had a few encounters with him and consider him to be a sincere and truthful young man who has performed admirably at the club.

“They will undoubtedly place in the top six, and whether they advance or not is up in the air after that.”

Carlos Corberan is an outstanding supervisor.

It is difficult to disagree with Pulis’ evaluation of Corberan and his tenure as manager.

Given the dire situation the Baggies were in when he took over, the Spaniard has accomplished a tremendous feat in leading West Brom to their current status so rapidly.

Indeed, there are parallels between him and Bielsa in the bond they have built inside the team, and his on-field exploits have also been impressive.

Overall, Craig Dawson’s tenure at West Brom was fruitful; nevertheless, his decision to sign with Wolves, a rival team, soured his relations with certain fans.

When you watch videos of Corberan, you can also see how well-mannered he is as a person and how he collaborates with others in the background.

That is also impressive, and it does make him the kind of manager that a lot of supporters would probably like to lead their team.

In light of this, you do get the impression that everyone associated with West Brom will want to hold onto Corberan for as long as they can at The Hawthorns.
