Journalist says Sunderland could make “statement appointment” with move for “tremendous” manager
Josh Murphy, the winger linked to West Brom, has stated that he is not planning to make a choice about his future just yet, but he still wants to play at the best level.
With his brace against Bolton Wanderers, the 29-year-old helped Oxford United advance to the Championship for the first time in 25 years. Second-tier teams have taken notice of Murphy after he concluded the season with 10 goals and 6 assists.
The Sun said in April that the Baggies, along with Southampton, QPR, Sunderland, and Hull City, were keeping an eye on Murphy. The MLS’s Minnesota United is reportedly very interested.
“I aim to perform to the best of my abilities. Murphy told the Oxford Mail, “I think I owe it to myself, to my family, and to the club.”
“Now that we’re in the Championship, let’s see what occurs.
“All I want to do is block out everything.” I just want to have fun since it’s been a long and difficult season.”
This summer’s contract with Oxford expires, and Murphy has not yet decided if he will stay with the team. He considered retiring before he joined them, but he has since discovered that he is loving football once again. Nevertheless, he still wants to play at the best level possible.
If Southampton prevails over Leeds United in Sunday’s play-off final, they would be in a position to provide that. West Brom participated in the Championship play-offs, where Hull ultimately placed eighth. Sunderland finished in the middle of the league, and QPR had a strong finish to the season.
Murphy has expressed his admiration for Des Buckingham, who is eager to stay longer at the Kassam Stadium. In an April interview, Murphy declared that he “liked” Buckingham and that the position and play style were ideal for him.
“We’ll make every effort to retain Josh in this position,” stated Buckingham.
“He’s a fantastic guy, an excellent player, and a nice fit for our style of operation. We’ll exert as much effort as we can and follow the results.GET MORE NEWS HERE
