Sheffield Wednesday are likely to have to deal with Brandon Thomas-Asante when West Bromwich Albion come to town this weekend.

Wednesday expressed interest in signing the 25-year-old striker a few seasons ago. He has been a key member of the Baggies’ 2024–25 squad, scoring 11 goals in the Championship as they attempt to finish in the top six and advance to the play-offs for a chance to play in the Premier League once again.

Prior to the match against Sunderland earlier this month, Thomas-Asante had scored two goals in three games. However, he was sent from the match after receiving two consecutive yellow cards, and he was forced to miss the close 2-1 loss to Leicester City over the weekend.

He will be back in the mix at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon, and if he returns right back into Carlos Corberan’s starting lineup as anticipated, he will be eager to cause difficulties for whatever Owls backline he ends up playing against. However, the punishment was only for one game.

For the first few months of the West Brom season, the attacker was virtually always there. But, in February, he sustained an injury that forced him to miss time. Since then, he has participated in seven Championship games, beginning the last four.

Daryl Dike of WBA and Jayson Molumby are both out due to long-term Achilles injuries; Martin Kelly, who hasn’t played a minute this season, is still recovering from a lengthy recuperation.
