Giants block rival from interviewing coach

The New York Giants have declined the Dallas Cowboys’ request to interview their defensive line coach, Andre Patterson, for a similar position with the Cowboys, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Patterson, aged 63, has been with the Giants since the 2020 season, and the Cowboys sought to meet with him following the appointment of Mike Zimmer as their new defensive coordinator. Patterson previously worked alongside Zimmer as the defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator during their time with the Minnesota Vikings.
This marks Zimmer’s return to the Cowboys for his second stint, having previously served in various defensive coaching roles from 1994 to 2006. In response to his hiring, Zimmer expressed excitement and honor in rejoining the organization and working with head coach Mike McCarthy, emphasizing his respect for McCarthy and his eagerness to contribute to the team’s success.
