Ex-City striker backs Idah to make success of ‘unbelievable’ Celtic loan move
Robert Earnshaw, a former Norwich City striker, believes that Adam Idah’s move to Celtic is an excellent opportunity for the young Irish international to continue his development. Idah completed a deadline day loan to Celtic after seeking regular game time away from Norwich City.
Despite interest from other clubs, including a loan-to-buy offer from Serie A’s Hellas Verona, Idah expressed a desire to join Celtic when their interest became apparent. Norwich City then moved to sign Sydney van Hooijdonk from Bologna as a replacement for Idah until the end of the season.
Idah made his debut for Celtic against Aberdeen, providing an assist for Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn’s goal. However, he faces tough competition for a starting position from players like Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu.
Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s manager, praised Idah’s physical attributes and expressed hopes of unlocking his potential after years of frustration at Norwich. David Wagner, Norwich’s manager, left the door open for Idah’s return in the summer.
Earnshaw, who had been linked with a move to Celtic in the past, believes that Idah’s move to Celtic is a significant opportunity for his career. He sees Celtic as a prestigious club with a rich history, which could provide Idah with the platform to elevate his career.
Earnshaw emphasizes the positive impact that playing for a club like Celtic can have on a player’s confidence and career trajectory. He speaks from personal experience, having been close to joining Celtic himself.
Overall, Earnshaw views Idah’s move to Celtic as a wise decision and believes that it could be a crucial step in his development as a footballer. He highlights Celtic’s status as one of the world’s most famous clubs and believes that it provides an excellent environment for Idah to flourish.
