COVENTRY CITY
Simon Jordan nails Coventry City vs Manchester United verdict with clear two-word response
After Manchester United’s thrilling victory over Coventry City in the FA Cup semifinal, Simon Jordan referred to the Sky Blues as “fortunate.” With 19 minutes remaining at Wembley, City was behind 3-0, but they pulled off an incredible comeback to force extra time and penalties.
United, the Premier League’s biggest teams, finally won from 12 yards out. That drama did not, however, come before Coventry had a potential winner disqualified with 120 minutes remaining due to video assistant refereeing.
The footballing world was watching Coventry, and they received amazing praise after giving United a serious fright at the national stadium. In the meantime, United was lucky to advance, and Erik ten Hag’s club now looks forward to a rematch of last season’s FA Cup final against their neighbors, Manchester City.
The former owner of Crystal Palace who is now a regular on talkSPORT, Jordan, tweeted his assessment of the game, saying, “How lucky.” He included a hashtag for Manchester United in his post, and it has received hundreds of likes and comments.
Spurred on by an enthusiastic crowd all the way to Wembley and during the match, Coventry fell behind 3-0 thanks to goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, and Scott McTominay. But they were on the verge of collapse after a resurgence sparked by Ellis Simms, Callum O’Hare, and Haji Wright.
As the thrilling extra time came to a finish, Victor Torp also had the ball in the United goal, but that effort was disallowed for the smallest offside violation, as Wright just missed the final defender before setting up his City colleague. Then, with O’Hare and Ben Sheaf missing from the penalty spot, the cruelest conclusion occurred.
