Following Mark Robins’ team’s humiliating loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals on Sunday, Coventry City supporters jeered a Manchester United player during his post-match interview.

Manchester United’s loss of a 3-0 lead against Coventry City during regular play at Wembley prevented them from suffering a devastating FA Cup setback.

In the FA Cup semi-final match, Scott McTominay had given United the lead. Harry Maguire then extended his team’s lead in first-half injury time.

After the break, club captain Bruno Fernandes added United’s third goal, and it appeared as though the Red Devils would almost certainly advance to the FA Cup final the following month.

But late in the second half, Coventry pulled themselves back into the game, shocking United supporters at Wembley with a regular-time comeback.

Ellis Simms, Callum O’Hare, and Haji Wright goals for Coventry sent the match into extra time, and United was on the verge of elimination from the FA Cup.

Fortunately, Erik ten Hag’s team avoided losing in extra time when VAR disqualified Coventry’s late victory before the penalty shootout.

But after defeating Coventry 4-2 in a shootout at Wembley, United was able to book their spot in the championship game.

Man United star, boo Coventry fans

After defeating Coventry City in the semifinals, Manchester United will play the reigning FA Cup champions Manchester City at Wembley next month.

In the FA Cup final of the previous season, Erik ten Hag’s team faced Manchester City, but ultimately lost 2-1 in 2023.

During the shootout victory over Coventry, Casemiro, a defensive player for United, was the only member of the Red Devils to miss a penalty.

For United, Diogo Dalot, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, and Rasmus Hojlund all took their chances and scored from close range.

Conversely, Coventry saw Andre Onana block Callum O’Hare’s shot before Ben Sheaf blasted his chance kick over the goal in the penalty shootout.

In the Coventry encounter, Andre Onana gave an outstanding effort, and in the shootout, the United star rose to the big moment.

Even during penalties, the 28-year-old Cameroon international received a booking after it seemed like he was trying to intimidate Ben Sheaf before of his attempt at a penalty kick.

Since then, footage of Coventry fans viciously jeering Onana during his post-match interview on the field has been uploaded to The Daily Mail’s TikTok account.

Onana on his Man Utd reservation

Despite the Coventry fans’ jeers for Onana’s antics during the shootout, he seemed unconcerned during his post-match interview.

Onana received his second booking of the match for his actions during the penalty kicks, according to referee Robert Jones.

Onana wasn’t sent out because of the resetting of bookings before to a penalty shootout, but he will not be banned for the FA Cup final.

The former star of Inter Milan and Ajax said that he was “aware of the rules” and that he used them to his advantage to get his team to the FA Cup final.

“I was aware of the rules prior to the penalties since I understood that my first yellow card had been erased,” Onana stated.

“I’m glad I won the game even though I had to provoke a few players and utilize my tricks to do it.”
