Wednesday’s matchup between West Brom and Sheffield is their penultimate Championship game of the year; they travel to Hillsborough. South Yorkshire is the final destination the Baggies visit on the regular phase of their campaign. As they try to dodge the plunge, they come up against a side that is fighting for its life. While they have managed to hang onto fifth place for the past few months, West Brom is in danger of losing ground. They are level on points with Norwich City after consecutive losses to Sunderland and Leicester City. On Wednesday night, Coventry City and Hull City meet, and one of the teams has a chance to close the distance between Norwich and West Brom. WBA will be closely monitoring events that take place in the Coventry Building Society Arena. Because they control their own destiny, Carlos Corberan’s team is confident that a victory will give them an excellent chance to play till mid-May. Ahead of the EFL Championship match at Hillsborough, here are the most recent injury and team news updates.Josh Maja is contending with an ankle injury that had him sidelined from December. The West Brom striker was a substitute last week.

News about the West Brom team

After serving his one-game suspension, Brandon Thomas-Asante is eligible for selection this next weekend. He had to miss Sunderland’s loss at the King Power Arena after receiving two yellow cards.

Due to an Achilles injury, Daryl Dike is not available for the forward positions. The American striker will miss the rest of the year due to the issue that he had in February.

Jayson Molumby, an international for the Republic of Ireland, will also not play. A foot issue required surgery, and Molumby was back on the training field early this month.

Martin Kelly was spotted in training even though he hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football this year.

Josh Maja is still under close supervision. Last week, he played eight minutes while still recovering from an ankle injury.

Jayson Molumby, Martin Kelly, and Daryl Dike are out.

News about Sheffield Wednesday’s squad

During the victory over Blackburn on Sunday, Di’Shon Bernard was absent. Although he hasn’t been able to train, there is optimism that he will be back before the season ends next week.

Bernard and Ian Poveda are in the same situation. After suffering an injury, the Leeds United attacker on loan hasn’t played in the last three games.

Another name left out is Juan Delgado. Being unregistered with the Owls, he hasn’t been with them since October.

A hamstring ailment kept Lee Gregory out of the matchday squad last weekend. He played just one minute under Danny Rohl before suffering the injury two weeks ago, and his future appears questionable.

Following the victory at Ewood Park, Bambo Diaby had a serious facial injury. His nose was bleeding profusely, and Dominic Iorfa had to take his position.

“The nose a little bigger, but the same optimism as always!!!!” was the message Diaby shared on Instagram. Michael Ihiekwe had to be changed after just fifteen minutes, and he did so.

Juan Delgado is out. Ian Poveda, Lee Gregory, and Michael Ihiekwe are doubtful.
