Baltimore’s star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, clinched his second AP NFL Most Valuable Player award with an overwhelming majority in the voting. Jackson received 49 out of 50 first-place votes from a diverse panel, including media, former players, and coaches. Despite leading the Ravens to the best regular-season record, the team fell short in the AFC championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Jackson, at 27, becomes the fourth player to win two MVP titles before turning 28, joining Patrick Mahomes, Brett Favre, and Jim Brown.
Christian McCaffrey Dominates AP Offensive Player of the Year Voting
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey secured the AP Offensive Player of the Year award in a commanding fashion. McCaffrey garnered 39 out of 50 first-place votes, amassing 222 points, surpassing Tyreek Hill in the voting. McCaffrey excelled with 1,459 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, and 564 receiving yards with seven scores.
Cleveland’s Myles Garrett Tops AP Defensive Player of the Year
Cleveland Browns’ edge rusher Myles Garrett emerged victorious in the AP Defensive Player of the Year race, outpacing T.J. Watt. Garrett received 23 first-place votes and 165 points, while Watt secured 19 first-place votes and 140 points. Garrett’s all-around performance included 14 sacks, 30 quarterback hits, 17 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles.
Houston Texans’ C.J. Stroud Dominates AP Offensive Rookie of the Year
Quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans claimed the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year with an overwhelming majority. Stroud received 48 out of 50 first-place votes, highlighting his impressive rookie season. Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick, threw for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions, leading the Texans to a playoff win.
Browns’ Joe Flacco Named AP Comeback Player of the Year
Quarterback Joe Flacco, who made a significant impact for the Cleveland Browns after returning mid-season, secured the AP Comeback Player of the Year award. Flacco, a former Super Bowl MVP, won over Bills’ Damar Hamlin and Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield. He went 4-1 in five starts, passing for over 300 yards in four consecutive games with 13 touchdowns.
Browns Dominate with Four Awards at NFL Honors
The Cleveland Browns had a strong presence at NFL Honors, claiming four awards. Apart from Joe Flacco’s Comeback Player of the Year, head coach Kevin Stefanski won AP Coach of the Year, defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz secured AP Assistant Coach of the Year, and Myles Garrett earned AP Defensive Player of the Year.
