‘Nasty’… Brendan Rodgers delivers double injury update after Celtic beat Hibs

Celtic’s recent win over Hibernian at Easter Road marks an end to Brendan Rodgers’ winless streak against the Edinburgh club at that venue. More significantly, the victory extends Celtic’s lead at the top of the table to three points, increasing pressure on Rangers to secure a win in their upcoming game against Ross County.

The match saw an early lead for Celtic with an Adam Idah penalty in the first five minutes. Despite Hibernian fighting back in the second half to equalize through a Dylan Levitt piledriver in the 60th minute, Idah secured the win for Celtic with another penalty in the final minute.

However, the victory came at a cost for Celtic, as Alistair Johnston was stretchered off after a clash of heads and Stephen Welsh was substituted in the second half due to a hamstring issue. Rodgers expressed concerns about potentially losing two more defenders to injury, further exacerbating Celtic’s injury woes this season.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor already sidelined with mid-term injuries, Rodgers faces the challenge of potentially fielding a makeshift defense against an in-form St Mirren side in their next match.

Despite the injury concerns, securing three crucial points in the race for the Scottish Premiership remains the priority for Celtic.
