Romaine Mundle sees Sunderland as an ideal place for his development and aims to secure regular first-team football with the club. The 20-year-old winger made a quick turnaround from Belgian club Standard Liege to join Sunderland in January, following his departure from Tottenham last summer. Since his arrival, Mundle has made seven Championship appearances and scored his debut goal for Sunderland during a match against Southampton.

Reflecting on his move to Wearside, Mundle expressed contentment with his decision, highlighting Sunderland’s commitment to promoting youth talent as a key factor. He mentioned having discussions with various stakeholders at the club, including the former manager, indicating a collective endorsement of his transfer. Mundle believes Sunderland offers him the perfect pathway to achieve his goals.

Having come through the academy at Tottenham, Mundle already had familiarity with some Sunderland players, such as Jack Clarke and Dennis Cirkin. This familiarity, coupled with a warm welcome from the team, facilitated his transition to the club. Despite the changes in coaching staff and a challenging run of defeats, Mundle remains focused on adapting and contributing positively to the team’s efforts.

Acknowledging the highs and lows of football, Mundle recognizes the need for unity and resilience during challenging times. He views the ongoing journey at Sunderland as a collective endeavor, emphasizing the importance of sticking together as a team to navigate through the ups and downs of the sport.
