Two Hibs stars given ‘chance’ to make imminent injury return

Josh Campbell and Lewis Miller both have “a chance” to make a comeback to the Hibs team for their match against St Johnstone on Saturday.

Because of injuries to his ankle and knee, Campbell has been out of action since the Edinburgh derby on December 27. However, in recent weeks, he has returned to training in an attempt to make a surprise recovery before the Premiership season’s closing weeks. Miller, on the other hand, hobbled out of the away 2-2 draw against Ross County in March and missed the 3-1 loss at Rangers on Saturday in addition to not traveling with Australia during the most recent international break.

Both players are, nonetheless, in the running for the matchday squad as Nick Montgomery’s team gets ready for their penultimate pre-split match on Saturday at Easter Road. According to an injury update on the official Hibs website, the manager might be able to fit them into his weekend schedule.

At his pre-game news conference on Friday, Montgomery will likely give more information on their fitness. He will also address the media at that time. Hibs go into their match against Saints knowing that a loss of three points might spell disaster for their hopes of placing in the top half of the league and qualifying for European play.

Following their defeat at Ibrox over the weekend and Dundee’s victory over St Johnstone, Montgomery’s team dropped back to seventh position, one point behind the Dens Park team. Hibs only have two left fixtures, while Dundee have three, so the race might go right down to the wire.

Hibs’ pre-split schedule ends on Saturday when they go to Motherwell, who Dundee will play this weekend. The final match of the pre-split calendar is a postponed home match against Rangers.

Speaking following the Glasgow defeat, which put an end to Hibs’ six-game league winning streak, Martin Boyle stated that at this point, all Hibs can do is concentrate on securing two potentially crucial victories.

“Losing games is never nice,” he remarked. They are at the top of the table for a reason, thus it’s a challenging place to visit. We know that even if we came back into the game, we lost due to careless goals. We will need to determine the errors. We seem to be repeating the same old refrain of losing careless goals. We must get more focused. We are hoping to get a run in before the break because we arrived here undefeated in six.

“We want to be where we want to be, and we need to win the games. We are unable to pursue any other outcomes. We should be able to finish the season strong and move up into the top six if we win our games and take care of ourselves.”
