Nick Montgomery rejects post Hibs job offer and ‘set’ for Premier League role
According to a report, Nick Montgomery has declined an opportunity to return to management with Melbourne Victory and is possibly heading to the Premier League instead. Montgomery, who was sacked as Hibs boss after a brief tenure that saw them miss out on the top six, had initially earned the Hibs job based on his impressive stint at A-League’s Central Coast Mariners.
Despite an offer to return to Australia, he has reportedly turned down Melbourne Victory, expressing his preference to remain in the UK for the foreseeable future.
Furthermore, Montgomery has attracted interest from the English Championship and is said to have accepted an offer to join a Premier League club as an assistant coach. Mile Jedinak, currently part of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff at Tottenham, has also rejected Melbourne Victory’s overtures.
Meanwhile, Mark Milligan, a former Hibs player, is interested in the vacancy, but it looks likely to be filled by Patrick Kisnorbo, a former Hearts player who previously won a title with Melbourne City and has been without a club since leaving Troyes seven months ago. Kisnorbo, eager to return to football, seems willing to switch allegiances across the city from Melbourne City to Melbourne Victory.
