Baltimore Ravens
Rrport: Former Patriots QB officially has a new position with Ravens
Malik Cunningham, a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens now, is one of the more interesting players in the league.
Wide receiver Malik Cunningham, not quarterback Malik Cunningham.
The former Louisville quarterback made it out of camp with the New England Patriots in 2023 after being selected undrafted.
He alternated between the regular roster and the practice squad before returning to the former.
With the Pats, he only appeared in one game in the end.
In December, he signed a practice squad contract with the Ravens after moving to New England.
Cunningham participated in just one Ravens game.
Now, it appears he will be shifting roles as he joins Baltimore for the summer.
The Ravens have officially switched him from quarterback to wide receiver, as insider Ari Meirov points out.
Rather of going under center, the 25-year-old will now attempt to make it out wide.
He isn’t the first player to do this, of course.
Notable athletes in recent memory who switched from playing quarterback to wide receiver in college or the NFL include Terrelle Pryor, Tim Tebow, Julian Edelman, Braxton Miller, Randall Cobb, Greg Ward Jr., Antwaan Randle El, etc.
Obviously, some people were far more successful than others.
You never know with Cunningham and the Ravens how things might turn out.
Baltimore is a fantastic rushing club that makes infrequent use of its wide outs.
Cunningham might offer John Harbaugh’s squad greater adaptability and skill.
