Rivals Hearts and Hibs fight for a highly sought-after pair, while Celtic prepares “vast cash” for “A-list players.”
After a dramatic 1-1 tie at Tynecastle Park that saw objects hurled from the crowd rain down on Lawrence Shankland, Hearts and Hibs both secured victories in their Scottish Premiership campaigns.
The Hibees defeated Ross County 2-0 at Easter Road, and Hearts made a big statement by defeating a 10-man Celtic team to maintain their solid hold on third place. Leaders Rangers also lost to Motherwell.
We’ve looked at some of the most recent transfer rumors at the top of the Premiership as the summer transfer window draws nearer. These are the most recent reports on the league rivals of Hearts and Hibs.
Rangers and Celtics compete for a pair of goals.
According to reports, the two Glasgow teams are at odds over more than just the Premiership title this year. Celtic and Rangers are reportedly interested in recruiting Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl of Rapid Vienna.
The latter only joined the Austrian team in the summer, and despite his strong midfield play—he has nine goals and six assists—he will probably be difficult to get. Vienna’s contract with center back Querfeld is about to expire, therefore the team may decide to take advantage of the opportunity to cash in this summer.
Due to the involvement of teams like Leicester City, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Burnley, Wolves, and Wolves, Seidl and Querfeld are also drawing a lot of interest from England.
Hoops getting ready with “vast cash” for summer raid
After selling Liel Abada to MLS team Charlotte FC for £10 million, Celtic is currently searching the market for a replacement for the wing player. Football Insider reports that Brendan Rodgers’ team has set aside “vast cash” to pursue a new attacker this summer in an attempt to replace a “A-list player.”
After spending two and a half years at Parkhead, Abada departs, and Celtic is already “laid the groundwork” to sign a replacement winger. They are in the process of compiling a shortlist of potential targets for consideration when the transfer window opens. They are reportedly looking for an attacker who can provide pace and direction down the flank, someone who plays similarly to Abada.
