Report: West Ham now want to sign £325,000-a-week star with Crystal Palace also keen

The England international is apparently looking to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, and West Ham United is reportedly interested in Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling, according to TBR Football.

The 2022 signing of the former Manchester City and Liverpool player saw him play 43 games for the Blues this season, tallying 10 goals and supplying eight assists. It is believed, meanwhile, that the winger is available for sale in the upcoming months and is not part of the club hierarchy’s long-term plans.

West Ham, another London team, is rumored to have been made aware of Sterling’s potential availability and is expected to make an attempt to sign the 82-cap Three Lions player.

With Todd Boehly taking over as manager for the seventh time in twenty months, Chelsea may need to make some changes to their roster following two seasons of extravagant spending. Sterling, who earns one of the highest salaries at the team, has allegedly turned down offers from Turkey and the Saudi Pro-League in recent months.

The wide player has not been named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024, and he has received criticism frequently for his performances this season.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: This is the first major international tournament that Sterling has missed out on making the England squad since Euro 2012.

After Mauricio Pochettino’s contentious dismissal at the conclusion of the 2023–2024 season, Enzo Maresca will formally take over at Chelsea on July 1. It is yet unknown if Sterling, who makes £325,000 a week, will be part of Maresca’s plans.

Although TBR has said that Sterling is not in favor of leaving, the player has given thought to joining the MLS in America. Nonetheless, the 29-year-old believes that staying in Europe for the time being is preferable to leaving without feeling pressured to play football in Europe in favor of the US.

As Michael Olise prepares to depart Crystal Palace, likely to join to Chelsea, Sterling “has come up in conversation” about moving to Selhurst Park to take the Frenchman’s position.

Chelsea To Back Enzo Maresca In First Transfer Window

The club have identified a number of transfers for the incoming manager

Chelsea may have to deal with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) after shelling out more than £1 billion for 34 players, but they still need to add up to six players this summer to help Maresca in his first season.

The Blues will prioritize a striker, a left defender, and a winger in the forthcoming transfer window, according to Ben Jacobs, who spoke to GIVEMESPORT. This means they may be trying to replace Sterling as quickly as possible.

“My understanding is that Chelsea still want a classic striker,” Jacobs said to GMS. They are likely looking for a creative player or a right-sided winger, and they also want a young left-back.

After that, Enzo Maresca wants to give Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic an opportunity, but it’s up to him if they sign another center back, possibly in the event that Trevoh Chalobah departs. There will also be some discussion about the goalie.
