Boehly is being rinsed by Chelsea flop who earns more than Palmer & Olise combined
Cole Palmer was undoubtedly the finest player in the Premier League, if not the top player at Chelsea, the previous season.
With 29 league starts, the attacking midfielder netted 22 goals and contributed 11 assists, making him the biggest goal contributor in the top division.
The Blues may, however, add another Palmer-like athlete to their roster this summer if they make a bid to get Michael Olise.
In light of this, let’s examine a contemporary Chelsea player who, while not being able to justify his pay, makes more than Olise and Palmer combined.
The beginning of Wesley Fofana’s life at Chelsea
Over the course of his 27 league starts in 2020–21, Wesley Fofana established himself at Leicester City.
A pre-season injury, however, severely interfered with his second season in England, keeping him out until the end of March.
Chelsea recognized enough promise and talent in Fofana despite the setback to make a summer transfer request for him.
The French defender cost an incredible £75 million to move to Stamford Bridge, but injuries derailed his Chelsea career once more, causing him to miss 26 games due to a knee problem.
What Chelsea gives Wesley Fofana
With new manager Mauricio Pochettino in charge, Fofana was expected to make a fresh start last season after overcoming those setbacks.
Nevertheless, in July, Fofana experienced yet another knee issue that required reconstructive ACL surgery.
Unfortunately, this meant that the 23-year-old missed the entire 2023/24 campaign, and he’s set to not play a competitive game for over a year.
Despite being at the club for two years, he’s only played 20 times across all competitions, 57 games fewer than the matches he’s been absent for via injury.

Nevertheless, when he joined, Fofana became one of the club’s highest-paid players, earning £200k per week, as per Capology.
The former Fox only earns less than Reece James and Raheem Sterling, £325k and £250k per week, while earning the exact same as another injury stricken figure in Ben Chilwell.
However, even more shockingly, this means that Fofana is also the joint-fourth-highest earning centre-back in the entire Premier League, earning just £20k per week less than Virgil Van Dijk, for example.
On top of that, the number 33’s salary is more than both Olise and Palmer’s combined, £100k and £75k-per-week, despite not playing at all.
Chelsea is hoping that his bad luck will end because he signed a seven-year contract that will take him until 2029; if not, they’ll be trapped.
Unquestionably, Fofana was among the most promising defenders in Europe when Chelsea first recruited him; football scout Jakek Kulig described him as a “exceptional talent and already one of Premier League’s best center-backs.”
Regretfully, the French defender has largely faded from view at Chelsea, and there’s no getting around the fact that he has cost the team millions without producing anything.
