Nuggets Western Conference Rival laughably fires title-winning head coach

The Denver Nuggets may be facing a tough battle against the Minnesota Timberwolves in their second-round playoff series, but they can take solace in the fact that things could be worse, especially for their Western Conference rivals, the Phoenix Suns.

After being knocked out of the playoffs by the Nuggets last season, the Suns made drastic changes, including trading for Bradley Beal and parting ways with head coach Monty Williams. Frank Vogel was brought in as the new head coach with the hope of leading the Suns to a title.

However, things didn’t go as planned for the Suns this season. Despite high expectations, the team failed to click, and they were embarrassingly swept by the Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.

To make matters worse, the Suns decided to part ways with head coach Frank Vogel after just one season. Vogel, who has a successful track record as an NBA head coach, including winning a title with the Lakers in 2020, was unfairly scapegoated for the team’s failures. Many believe that Vogel was dealt a bad hand with a broken roster and had little chance of success.

Now, rumors suggest that former Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer will replace Vogel. While Budenholzer is a respected coach, many feel that the Suns’ fundamental roster issues need to be addressed before any coaching change can make a significant difference.

The Suns’ decision to fire Vogel comes shortly after the Lakers also parted ways with their coach, Darvin Ham, following their playoff exit. Nuggets assistant coach David Adelman is reportedly on the Suns’ short list of replacement candidates.
