‘Needed some minutes’ – Iraola feels Hibs was a ‘good option’ for Marcondes
Andoni Iraola, speaking about Emiliano Marcondes’ loan move to Hibernian, expressed his belief that it was a positive decision for the midfielder, emphasizing that Marcondes needed playing time after returning from injury. Marcondes, who had recently recovered from a foot injury, joined Hibs on loan from Cherries for the remainder of the season. Despite being an unused substitute for two matches with Cherries prior to the move, Marcondes has already made four appearances for Hibs since joining.
Iraola expressed optimism that Marcondes would benefit from the opportunity to gain playing time at Hibs, considering his recent injury setback. Earlier in the season, Iraola had praised Marcondes’ dedication during his recovery from surgery, highlighting his positive attitude and willingness to contribute despite being sidelined.
Marcondes, who is expected to leave Cherries when his contract expires this summer, has made significant contributions during his time with the club, including scoring seven goals in 24 appearances. One notable achievement was his hat-trick in an FA Cup match against Yeovil Town in January 2022. His last competitive appearance for Cherries was in a 4-1 victory against Everton in November 2022, where he also found the back of the net.
