TEXAS RANGER
Latest Key Player Injury Update Will Encourage Rangers Fans
The Texas Rangers star’s recovery from injury appears to be going well for Jacob deGrom.
The terrible narrative of the Texas Rangers’ 2024 season thus far has been injuries. DeGrom is recuperating from Tommy John surgery right now. The good news is that MLB.com’s Kennedi Landry reports that deGrom is “progressing nicely” in his rehabilitation.
Additionally, according to Landry, deGrom is aiming for an August comeback, according to Rangers general manager Chris Young. Texas is currently in the.500 range, but they hope to challenge for a division title and make a run at winning the World Series. A talent like deGrom coming back for the final stretch would be an immediate improvement.
Update on Jacob deGrom’s Injuries: “Progressing Well”
The 35-year-old is among the top pitchers in the game when healthy. Before the 2023 season, he joined with the Rangers, and he had a great start to the season. Before it became clear that he need Tommy John surgery, deGrom pitched to a solid 2.67 ERA over the course of six starts. Since 2019, deGrom has not made more than 15 starts in a season; that same year, he also took home his most recent Cy Young Award.
When deGrom returns, it’s hard to say what version the Rangers will have. Given his advanced age and recent extensive surgery recuperation, it might take some time for deGrom to regain his footing in the major leagues. Still, his return will surely be advantageous to Texas.
In the American League West, the Rangers currently trail the Seattle Mariners by one and a half games. Due to their numerous ups and downs in 2024, Texas has a 23–22 record. When injuries are plaguing a team, consistency is hard to come by. But that’s not an excuse the Rangers will accept.
It will take Jacob deGrom at least a couple more months to recover from his injury. Nevertheless, the fact that he is on the upswing is heartening.
