Former Ohio State football walk-on turned captain signs with Buffalo Bills
Former Ohio State football walk-on turned captain, Matt Barnes, has signed with the Buffalo Bills, adding depth to the team’s secondary.
Barnes’ football journey began when he joined the Ohio State Buckeyes as a walk-on player in 2013. Despite starting as a walk-on, Barnes’ dedication and talent didn’t go unnoticed, and he eventually earned a scholarship. His leadership qualities became apparent when he was named team captain in his senior year.
Although he went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, Barnes didn’t give up on his NFL dream. He signed with the Washington Football Team as an undrafted free agent. Over the years, Barnes has also spent time with the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots.
Now, the Buffalo Bills have added Barnes to their roster to strengthen their secondary. As a versatile safety, Barnes brings experience and leadership to the team, which could prove invaluable as the Bills aim for success in the upcoming season.
