Coventry City boss makes ‘Premier League’ admission in Callum O’Hare contract latest
Mark Robins acknowledges that Callum O’Hare is currently in a phase of assessing potential interest from Premier League clubs this summer, while emphasizing that all possibilities, including remaining at Coventry City, are still under consideration.
Despite being presented with a new contract by the Sky Blues, O’Hare has not yet committed to signing it. Consequently, there’s a strong indication that he may depart CBS Arena as a free agent at the end of the season. However, the prospect of City achieving promotion via the play-offs could alter the 25-year-old’s decision-making process.
In response to inquiries about the status of O’Hare’s contract negotiations and whether his decision will be influenced by the club’s potential promotion, Robins stated, “Callum is keeping his options open, as many would have deduced by now, and that’s entirely his prerogative.”
Robins further explained, “We’ve extended him an offer, a substantial one at that, but he prefers to explore the possibility of Premier League clubs showing interest. Whether our promotion to the Premier League makes us a more appealing option, or whether he considers other opportunities, all avenues are being considered, and rightfully so.”
O’Hare is currently enjoying the most successful phase of his career, marked by an increase in goal-scoring following his recovery from a serious knee injury that sidelined him for ten months. With nine goals in his last 15 appearances, he remains a pivotal figure in the team and a significant attacking threat for Coventry City. Additionally, he continues to enjoy immense popularity among the fans, who consistently show their support for him during matches.
