Former Blackpool, QPR, Brighton and Middlesbrough star free agent at 32

After learning that his present club would not be renewing his contract, former Blackpool defender Grant Hall is now free to sign for another team.

After Rotherham United released their retained list, Hall, who was on it, is now free to meet with any club. The Millers and the Seasiders will compete in League One the next season, while Hall and ten other players will play football somewhere else.

These days, Hall is thirty-two, and he was limited to eight games this season. The center back hadn’t appeared since December due to hamstring and hip problems, although he did participate in the season’s final two games against Bristol City and Cardiff City.

“There have been some honest and open discussions with players in and out of contract and we have had to make some really difficult decisions, but each one of those has been made with the future of Rotherham United at the forefront of our priorities,” manager Steve Evans said in an explanation of the choices made, posted on the club’s official website.

“We wish those leaving the club the very best of luck, and I would want to put on record that everyone in the facility has been a pleasure to deal with since I walked through the door.”

Hall joined Blackpool on loan from Spurs during the 2014–15 Championship season. Lee Clark signed him, and he was demoted after playing for a team that finished last.

Despite Blackpool’s relegation, he spent two seasons at Middlesbrough and over 130 games for QPR before staying in the Championship.

His other clubs include Brighton & Hove Albion, where he began his career and played three games before signing a three-year contract with Tottenham following his rejection of the Seagulls. Prior to moving to Bloomfield Road, Hall was on loans at Swindon Town and Birmingham City and never made a senior appearance for Spurs.
