Ex-Sunderland and Manchester United man confirms Middlesbrough departure – available on free transfer

This summer, the former Manchester United and Sunderland player will be free to sign with any team.

Paddy McNair, a former player for Sunderland and Manchester United, has confirmed his resignation from Middlesbrough. The defender will not be eligible for play this summer.

Following the Black Cats’ Premier League relegation, the 29-year-old international for Northern Ireland signed with Sunderland from Manchester United, where he played under David Moys. The next season, Chris Coleman led the Wearsiders back to League One.

After suffering numerous injuries during his two seasons at Sunderland, McNair scored seven goals in twenty-five games before joining Middlesbrough following the Black Cats’ 2018 relegation to the third division. After six years at Riverside Stadium, the defender-turned-midfielder has confirmed his departure at the end of the current campaign.
