Albion loanee Callum Marshall returns to West Ham
Callum Marshall, a forward for Albion, has rejoined his parent team, West Ham.
At the end of January, the 19-year-old inked a loan deal with Baggies that would last until the end of the season.
However, the youthful player has struggled to get into the first squad since joining The Hawthorns, making just three appearances as a substitute. He goes back to London to train with his parent club, but the Baggies can choose to use him if they need him for the remaining five games or, should they advance, the play-offs.
Having scored 19 goals in 14 games for the Irons’ high-flying under-21 squad, he was in scorching form when he joined Albion.
Carlos Corberan, the manager of the Baggies, thinks it is “unfair” that he must leave players out of his squad because of competition for spots.
Erik Pieters and Pipa did not go with the Albion team to Stoke on Saturday for the 2-2 draw. The manager called Pieters a “miracle.”
“I have unbelievable guys,” he declared. Erik Pieters is a gift from God. He is the type of person who always assures you, “I’m fine,” even when he is not on the squad. I’m prepared. I’ll be prepared. I’ll continue to put in a lot of effort since the team is what matters most.
The level of labor Pipa is putting in these days is astounding. It would be incredibly unjust to exclude any of my teammates from the squad at this time. It’s not fair.
“However, that is my desire,” he continued. “I must, regrettably, make unjust decisions.”
Tonight, Albion, which has lost their last three games, travels to the Championship to play relegated Rotherham.
