Jed Wallace: West Brom boss does not need prestigious accolade
According to captain Jed Wallace, Carlos Corberan has done an excellent job at Albion without the approval of a Championship manager of the year nomination.
According to Wallace, the Baggies boss is among the greatest managers he and his teammates have ever worked with.
Currently ranked fifth in the standings, Corberan and his team are just one win away from clinching a play-off position.
But Corberan did not make the three-man shortlist for manager of the year, despite Albion’s campaign and his success at the club with almost little money to invest.
Wallace, the team’s captain, is adamant that the manager doesn’t need any trophies to prove his worth because everyone at the team knows how much he has done.
“I believe it was a bit surprising,” he stated. He is, for a lot of us, the best manager we have ever had.
“Every Baggies supporter, employee, and player who has been here does not not value what he has accomplished.
“It speaks for itself; after 41 games, we are here, when we were at the bottom when he arrived.
“It speaks for itself—the three finest players, Ceddy (Cedric Kipre), Fellows, and Mowwy (Alex Mowatt), were on loan last season.
“We can all agree that his work speaks for itself without an EFL nomination.”
Albion’s run of three straight draws to maintain their unblemished record has been necessary recently, despite their position in the table.
Wallace has stated that the team won’t be too depressed about their recent mini-bad run and thinks they can use their home form to their advantage by playing back-to-back games at home.
“It is no accident that we are where we are in the league,” he continued.
“We are in a wonderful position and we have two home games left, which is annoying.
“It’s all about us, but the 46-game Championship is a grind.
“We are where we are at 41 degrees.
This season, The Hawthorns has sold out multiple times, and the home crowd has been fantastic. The team’s performance has been excellent.
“Watford was electrifying when we fought back, and we are all in agreement about what we want to do this season.”
