Hibernian v Celtic: Walsh to referee, Dallas on VAR

Nick Walsh has been appointed as the referee for Celtic’s upcoming match against Hibernian tomorrow night. Walsh, widely regarded as one of the top referees in the country, will officiate the Cinch Premiership clash at Easter Road. Interestingly, Brendan Rodgers has yet to secure a victory at Easter Road during either of his spells as Celtic manager.

Assisting Walsh will be Dougie Potter and Ross Macleod, with Euan Anderson serving as the Fourth Official. Meanwhile, Andrew Dallas will be in charge of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) operations at Clydesdale House, with Andrew McWilliam assisting.

Walsh’s most recent involvement in a Celtic match was at the end of December when Celtic defeated Rangers 2-1 in the Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park. The match sparked controversy, particularly regarding a penalty decision that Rangers disputed due to an offside call. Despite the fallout, Rangers have since closed the gap in the title race, putting pressure on Celtic.

Celtic faces a challenge at Easter Road, where they have been unable to secure a victory in their last two visits, suffering a defeat last season and settling for a draw earlier this season. With Rangers poised to potentially draw level on points with a win over Aberdeen, securing three points against Hibernian becomes crucial for Celtic to maintain their lead in the title race.
