According to a report by Wigan Today, Wigan Athletic has not made a move for Altrincham star Chris Conn-Clarke, and Shaun Maloney’s team is now showing “minimal” interest in the player.

Journalist Alan Nixon, via his Patreon page, has connected Wigan Athletic to a move for the National League forward during the next transfer window. They are getting ready for the upcoming season in League One.

The 22-year-old Conn-Clarke seems to be a guy in demand this summer, drawing reportedly interest from further up the football hierarchy.Arsenal, Cambridge, Peterborough United, and Mansfield Town are reportedly among his admirers, according to FootballTransfers.

The Latics’ connections have been chilled, according to the most recent Wogan Today update on his condition. Following his loan stints at Preston and Bolton Wanderers in the previous season, they entered the market earlier this week to sign Liverpool right-back Calvin Ramsay.

Wigan Athletic transfer stance

Wigan Athletic will be cautious with their recruitment over the next couple of months as Maloney looks to bring in the right players.

Conn-Clarke is likely to secure a switch to the Football League in the near future and a move to the DW Stadium would make sense from a geographical point of view.

He would be staying in the North West and wouldn’t have to travel far from Altrincham to get there. But as of right moment, it seems unlikely that the Latics will take action.

The former junior international for Northern Ireland led Alty to the playoffs last season with 22 goals in all competitions. They fell short against eventual winners Bromley in the semi-finals, though.

Before Burnley enticed him to go to England in 2018, Conn-Clarke had stints as a young player with Glentoran and Linfield.

After that, he attended Turf Moor for three years without graduating.

He had played five games for the Cod Army when Altrincham came along and signed him on loan from Chorley, where he had been on loan.

Wigan Athletic is excited to bolster their team for the upcoming season.

Recently, the Latics severed their relationships with Josh Magennis, Tom Pearce, and Charlie Wyke.
