West Brom strike big ticket milestone as Southampton close latest phase of play-off sales
The home leg of the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final between West Bromwich Albion and Southampton has already sold out, the team has confirmed.
This Sunday, the Saints will visit the Hawthorns for the first of potentially three road games to the Premier League, and the stadium will be packed. In West Bromwich, there will be a noticeable sense of tension as both teams try to start as strongly as possible.
Southampton said two days earlier that they have sold every one of their allotted 2,009 seats, ending their last stage of sales. The total attendance for this weekend’s 2.15pm kickoff could surpass the maximum of 26,688 thanks to West Brom’s success in selling the remaining 24,679 tickets.
Albion will have home advantage at the Shrine, but Southampton has the superior Championship record for 2023–2024, so it should be an incredible showdown. With a total of 75 points, Carlos Corberan’s team finished fifth, twelve points behind Russell Martin’s Saints in fourth place.
Albion suffered defeats in both of their regular-season encounters (2-1 away at St Mary’s Stadium on November 11 and 2-0 at The Hawthorns on February 16); however, the playoffs present an entirely different challenge. Anything is possible at all.
If you are unable to secure a ticket, Sky Sports Football will broadcast the game live. The build-up will begin approximately an hour before the game starts. Birmingham World will also provide coverage, including the match report, player rankings, and statements from the press conference following the game.
