COVENTRY CITY
Updates on three injuries surface before West Brom vs. Coventry
Coventry City will be facing West Brom without midfielders Ben Sheaf and Jamie Allen, as confirmed by manager Mark Robins. However, there is a possibility that striker Haji Wright could be fit for the match.
The Sky Blues, who are currently five points below West Brom in the Championship table, will be aiming to bounce back from their recent 3-0 defeat at home to Preston North End. Meanwhile, West Brom secured a 1-1 draw away at Hull City in their last league outing, with Darnell Furlong scoring the equalizer.
Providing an injury update ahead of the game, Robins stated, “Haji Wright was fine yesterday. We make last-minute checks on certain people and there’s an illness going around at the moment, so we have to make sure everyone is ok and in decent condition.” He also mentioned that Ben Sheaf is progressing well and should return to action soon, while Jamie Allen is still a bit behind in his recovery and has yet to resume training on the grass.
Coventry City, West Brom’s next opponent, is plagued by injuries.
The absence of Ben Sheaf and Jamie Allen could indeed boost West Brom’s prospects of securing a victory against Coventry. Both players play pivotal roles in the midfield for the Sky Blues, and their absence is likely to be felt during the match.
However, the potential involvement of Haji Wright presents a concern for the Baggies. With 11 goals scored in all competitions this season, including 10 in the league since joining Coventry from Antalyaspor last summer, Wright has proven to be a significant goal threat. Therefore, West Brom will need to closely monitor his movements on the field to mitigate his impact on the game.
