UEFA Champions League outfit poised to make move for Birmingham City player
Midfielder Jordan James of Birmingham City is the player Atalanta is hoping to sign during the summer transfer window.
The newly crowned Europa League champions will now reportedly try to finalize a deal for the 19-year-old, according to a report from the Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport.
Birmingham had a difficult 2023–24 season, which culminated in their relegation from the Championship to League One on the last day of play.

Given that the market is going to reopen, there will probably be conjecture over the whereabouts of several St. Andrew’s players.
James, the gifted midfield general, appears to be one player who will get a lot of interest from other teams.
Jordan James, a midfielder for Birmingham City, is once again a target for Atalanta.
James joined Birmingham’s youth program and has since advanced through the levels to regularly play for the Midlands squad at the first team level.
The adolescent has played for the team in 105 games across all competitions, contributing two assists and ten goals.
James has begun to play regularly for the Wales national team as well, and his exposure to international competition is another reason why he is drawing interest from abroad.
When the Premier League expressed interest in the midfield player, Atalanta reportedly had an offer for James rejected during the January transfer window.
But according to the most recent report, the Serie A team will make another attempt to get the midfield player when the transfer market opens, with James reportedly being their top choice.
The Birmingham midfielder is reportedly still in the running to join with Atalanta, despite the young player’s continued interest from the top division in English football. In fact, it’s possible that he will be their first summer acquisition.
James’ contract with Birmingham currently has a year left on it, but they have the option to extend it by an additional year.
That does offer them some security in his future, and it is believed that the Blues will keep asking for a chunk of money in summer—roughly €10 million—for his services.
James will face competition this summer, though, as West Ham and Leicester City are Atalanta’s rivals, according to a recent article by journalist Alan Nixon.
It seems certain that Jordan James will leave Birmingham City this summer.
It is difficult to believe, regretfully, that James will remain at St. Andrew’s throughout the summer transfer window for Blues supporters.
The midfield player was one of Birmingham’s stronger players last season, despite the disappointment of relegation.
However, it appears that this has drawn interest from other places, thus dropping into League One will make it more challenging to maintain control over him.
They are now under increased financial pressure to raise money because of that revenue loss, and selling James for a good price is one way they can achieve so.
