Tyler Warren earned the title of Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week after delivering a historic performance. His 17 receptions matched a long-standing college football record for the most catches by a tight end in a single game, a mark first set by Emilio Vallez of New Mexico in 1967 and later tied by Northwestern’s Jon Harvey in 1982.

Warren’s 224 receiving yards set a new Big Ten record for a tight end and marked only the second time in conference history that a tight end surpassed 200 receiving yards in a game. In addition to his receiving performance, Warren also caught a touchdown on a play where he snapped the ball himself, ran for four yards on a third-and-one to set up a field goal, and completed a nine-yard pass to Kaytron Allen.

Ryan Barker, who made his first career start just a week earlier against UCLA, delivered a flawless performance by hitting all four field goal attempts and three extra points. His two field goals in the first half were vital in keeping Penn State within reach as USC built a 14-point halftime lead. Barker’s third field goal tied the game at 23-23 in the fourth quarter, just before a late touchdown drive sent the game to overtime. He capped off the day with a game-winning 36-yard field goal in overtime, securing Penn State’s 33-30 victory and their first win over USC since 1996.

Barker is now a perfect six-for-six on field goals, having made both of his attempts in his first start against UCLA.
