Two Blues key players back in training
Gary Rowett, interim manager, speaks at a press conference prior to Rotherham United
Oliver Burke and Marc Roberts have both returned to training after missing time due to injuries.
The defender has not played since leaving the game after 19 minutes of Blues’ match against Middlesbrough last month, while the Werder Bremen loanee hasn’t played since coming on as a second-half replacement during the team’s January Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match against Leicester City.
The 2023–24 Sky Bet Championship season still has three games left, and both teams have finished a full week of preparation before Birmingham City hosts Rotherham United in the first one on Saturday, April 20, at 3 p.m.
The Birmingham City Elite Performance and Innovation Centre is Oliver Burke’s training facility.
During his pregame news conference at the Birmingham City Elite Performance and Innovation Centre, interim manager Gary Rowett spoke with BluesTV, providing supporters with information on Roberts’ and Burke’s availability as well as a potential starting lineup for the game against Steve Evans’ club.
“All this week, Alex Pritchard, Oliver Burke, and Marc Roberts have been training. Jukey is lagging behind that, so once more, we will need to make wise choices.
Again, we will need to be aware of those circumstances since we have one or two players who have sustained knocks during training.
“Ideally, you would select the same team when you get out there. You occasionally have to adjust things and make judgments that are either enforced or just what you believe the game requires because it’s not always what you get throughout the workweek.”
