U2
The surprising and chaotic events that unfolded when Australian dance crew Confidence Man hosted U2 and Noel Gallagher for dinner have been unveiled. Here’s the complete story.
“Over sausages, salad, and margaritas, we discovered that Noel wouldn’t touch the salad,” the Australian dance group Confidence Man shared as they looked back on the memorable night they hosted U2 and Noel Gallagher for dinner. Things took an unexpected turn when a disgruntled neighbor showed up at their doorstep.
The rising Australian dance quartet recounted the lively evening, where world-famous rock legends joined them for a home-cooked meal, and the atmosphere quickly turned “rowdy.”
In 2019, following a wild night of partying in Melbourne with U2 and Noel Gallagher, Janet Planet and Sugar Bones, the co-vocalists of Australian dance sensation Confidence Man, casually invited their famous new friends to stop by for dinner during their Australian tour—never expecting the offer to be accepted.
To their surprise, U2 guitarist The Edge and Noel Gallagher took them up on the invitation, sending the duo and their enigmatic veiled bandmates, Reggie Goodchild and Clarence McGuffie, into a mild frenzy.
“Reggie and I were like, ‘Shit, we’ve got to clean the house,’” Sugar Bones recounted in an interview with The Times. Janet Planet added, “We didn’t even have wine glasses, and I was like, ‘We can’t serve them wine in mugs!’”
Despite their initial panic, the evening turned out to be relaxed and enjoyable. “It was actually a very fun, laid-back experience once they were there,” Sugar Bones said. The menu? Sausages, salad, and margaritas.
“Noel wouldn’t eat the salad,” Janet Planet adds, humorously noting that Gallagher only eats “brown food.” As for her relationship with Sugar Bones, whether they’re sisters, partners, or something else entirely is left to speculation, depending on which rumors you believe.
Despite Gallagher’s dietary preferences, the evening was a success. However, things did get a bit too lively. In a follow-up interview with BBC 6Music, Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher admitted that the night turned “rowdy,” so much so that a neighbor came over in his pajamas to complain about the noise.
To smooth things over, The Edge and Gallagher were sent to the door to address the issue. It turned out to be a clever move, as the neighbor turned out to be a huge fan of both U2 and Oasis.
“We’re both saying to the guy, ‘Mate, you don’t really want to call the police, do you?’” Gallagher recounted, concluding that the situation was calmed and everyone ended up taking selfies together.
