Sheffield Wednesday seems to be gearing up for a busy summer in the transfer market after securing their Championship status with a crucial 2-0 win against Sunderland on the final day of the season.

Owner Dejphon Chansiri is reportedly making efforts to persuade manager Danny Rohl to stay at the club, with improvements to the training ground and talks of a new contract for the German manager.

The Owls are also being linked with several players as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window. Here’s a roundup of all the latest Sheffield Wednesday transfer news and rumors.

Sheffield Wednesday is reportedly keeping a close eye on Duncan McGuire after missing out on the Orlando City and USMNT striker during the winter transfer window.

McGuire experienced a chaotic deadline day, shuttling between Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday in hopes of securing a move to the Championship. However, he ultimately missed out on both opportunities and returned to Orlando City. McGuire has since started the MLS season strongly, scoring four goals in nine games.

Despite missing out on McGuire in January, Sheffield Wednesday has continued to monitor his progress. The striker currently has offers from clubs in Belgium and Germany.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday is also looking to secure the services of goalkeeper James Beadle on loan once again. The 19-year-old Brighton goalkeeper joined Wednesday on loan in January and made 19 league appearances, keeping eight clean sheets. Since the end of the season, reports suggest that Sheffield Wednesday is eager to re-sign Beadle on loan, with the youngster currently out of the first-team picture at Brighton.

Several clubs have joined the race to sign Ian Poveda, with Sheffield Wednesday facing fresh competition for the winger’s signature.

Poveda, who is out of contract at Leeds United, has attracted interest from Burnley, Luton Town, and Sunderland, according to reports. Sheffield Wednesday has been keen to bring Poveda back to Hillsborough on a permanent basis, but they now face competition from other clubs.

Poveda’s future is likely to become clearer once Leeds United’s season in the Championship playoffs is over.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday is also eager to keep hold of center-back Di’Shon Bernard beyond this summer. However, the 23-year-old’s contract expires next month, and he has attracted interest from clubs in the Championship and from elsewhere in Europe.

There is no indication yet whether Bernard will stay at Sheffield Wednesday, but the club is keen to retain his services.

Sheffield Wednesday is eyeing a reunion with Ike Ugbo, who was one of three players to sign on loan in January.

Ugbo, along with James Beadle and Ian Poveda, joined the club during the January transfer window. Sheffield Wednesday is keen on re-signing Ugbo this summer, especially with his parent club Troyes facing relegation to the French third tier.

The Owls are reportedly considering a permanent deal for Ugbo, although the feasibility of such a move depends on the club’s financial resources.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday’s midfielder George Byers is set to leave the club after three seasons. Byers spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Blackpool. With his contract expiring, Byers will become a free agent, and he has already attracted interest from several League One clubs. Barnsley and Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday’s South Yorkshire rivals, are among the clubs interested in signing him.
