SAD NEWS: Eagles Head coach announced a heartbreaking News About a Player….
After the Eagles third and final preseason game on Friday night, head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to reporters and casually mentioned that Jim Bob Cooter is helping the team draw two-minute scenarios from around the league.
Sirianni was asked about how things have been going operationally with calling plays, and what he’s learned from the three preseason games. The head coach noted that he thought things have been smooth and they’ve been getting the calls to the quarterback and the ball snapped with 20 seconds left — which is where he wants to be. That’s also when he mentioned having Cooter’s help on two-minute situations.
“I was calling the play to [offensive coordinator] Shane [Steichen], Shane did a good job of talking in there — when we’re in two minute situations, [passing game coordinator] Kevin Patullo was really doing a lot of, ‘Hey, here’s out scenario of what we’re in,’ Jim Bob Cooter is getting all the scenarios for us from the two-minute around the league so we can prepare for it. So, I felt really good in those two minutes.”
Jim Bob Cooter has been around the NFL since 2009, first serving as an offensive assistant for the Colts from 2009-2011, followed by short stints with the Chiefs and Broncos. It was in 2012 that he overlapped with Sirianni in Kansas City.
He then landed with the Lions for four years, first as the quarterbacks coach and then the offensive coordinator from 2016-2018. He actually interviewed for Detroit’s head coaching position after Jim Caldwell was fired. His last notable role was with the Jets in 2019 as the running backs coach under Adam Gase.
The offensive-minded coach now seems to be helping Sirianni and the Eagles with their two-minute situations, and, at 37 years old, is yet another young coach on staff — in whatever capacity that may be, considering he’s not actually listed on the team’s official website
