Reading join Charlton and Stockport in race for Sheffield Wednesday winger
Malik Wilks, a winger for Sheffield Wednesday, is reportedly under consideration for Reading.
The 25-year-old Wilks progressed through the ranks at Leeds United but only made one appearance. He has since established himself at Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers, and Hull City.
The quick forward, who only managed one goal in 18 games for the Owls the previous season, will look to play more frequently in the upcoming campaign.
Reading is reportedly in the running to sign the winger, along with Charlton Athletic and Stockport County, according to Football Inside.
According to reports, the teams are “looking into the prospect of securing a loan or permanent deal for the forward from Sheffield Wednesday.”
The only players the Royals can sign that don’t have to contribute to the parent club are free agents or players on loan. This is because of transfer embargoes.
With Femi Azeez the only true wide player in the team, they still need a winger, but uncertainty surrounding any takeover will probably prevent them from moving forward with acquiring targets for the upcoming campaign.
