Philippe Clement responds to Hibs confidence for Rangers clash as boss fired up

It seems that Philippe Clement was displeased with the level of confidence that the Hibs camp was projecting ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Cup match.

Rangers should have received a better draw in the quarterfinals, but they will now play this Sunday at Easter Road. But given their current run under the Belgian, they won’t fear anyone and will once again be the favorites to win the match and advance.

In their two meetings so far this season, Clement’s team has scored seven goals without a response, four at Ibrox and three at Easter Road. However, the Hibees fielded a patched-up squad for the later match since they were dealing with an injury crisis and needed to bring in some reinforcements from January.

In recent days, manager Nick Montgomery has brought attention to that while also asserting that his players were unlucky in the two prior meetings. Clement is aware of that.

When asked if he thought the Hibs would be different, he replied, “Yeah, they might be, but we’re different too.” Thus, we will investigate that thoroughly.

“It’s going to be crucial, so we’re going to work hard to get to the semi-final while also watching how people recuperate over the following two days.

“I’ve read that their last two games against us were incredibly unfortunate for them. Clearly, they have a great deal of belief.

“Therefore, we need to do well there in order to qualify.”

Regarding his team’s readiness following their intense effort to draw with Benfica the previous evening, he continued, “There is no doubt about that; 200 percent.”

“My team hasn’t ceased working hard in that manner during the entire season.

“A good example is that they were present at the League Cup final a few days after the Betis match.

“We know we need to play well against Hibs because they are particularly keen to beat us, allegedly, and my team is hungry to win more championships.”

Rangers won 3-0 at Easter Road

“I don’t think we’re different in terms of what we do,” Montgomery had stated. However, as a team, we’ve improved since then. Compared to the two Rangers games this season, the team is in much better shape.

“I definitely recall the most recent Rangers game.” At right back, it was Kanayo’s first game. Jordan had to switch to center back because he has been our most reliable left back all season.

Due to the personnel we had, the squad was truly a mix and match group. However, we lost the game 3-0 despite having five more solid opportunities than they did. That in and of itself tells a narrative.

“We had numerous excellent opportunities in that game, but we failed to take advantage of them, and we paid a price for some careless defense on the first two goals. Thus, I didn’t believe the game contained much. People view the outcome. Even though I had to rally the team and play guys out of position, the final score wasn’t 3-0.

In addition, it was Myziane’s debut game. He had just entered. Thus, it was a time when we were just beginning to rebuild and add players, but we lacked players.

“I still see a lot of good things about the way we performed in that game. However, we gave up a few careless goals that day, so playing Rangers will never be simple.

“Even if you look at the data at Ibrox, we had 50% possession (47 percent, but who’s quibbling?),” he continued in reference to the match at Ibrox. We had more final third entries than Rangers at the half. Considering that I had not been at the club for long, I felt that we played pretty well for extended periods of time; we really took the game to them.

Nevertheless, we gave up the first goal, which was incredibly careless. Actually, Davie Marshall, it was the first time we had gone long off a free-kick. We took a long shot, lost the opening header, and the ball ended up in behind.
