The Penn State football team is actively pursuing top talent for the 2025 recruiting class, with a specific focus on strengthening the wide receiver position. Coaches Marques Hagans and James Franklin have recognized the importance of adding more playmakers to the roster and have successfully scheduled a visit with highly touted wide receiver Kaliq Lockett. Lockett, a four-star recruit per On3 and 4231Sports, hails from Sachse, TX, and is currently ranked as the No. 6 WR in the 2025 class by 4231Sports and No. 7 by On3.

Lockett also holds a place among the top 10 players in Texas for the 2025 cycle. National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman of On3 has reported that Lockett is set to visit the Penn State football team on March 14th. While one player doesn’t define a recruiting class, securing the commitment of a top playmaker like Lockett would undoubtedly boost the Nittany Lions’ confidence in building a bright future in Happy Valley.

There is speculation that Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans, originally from Texas and now part of the Nittany Lions, could play a role in sealing the deal with Lockett. Evans, a junior wide receiver, may provide words of encouragement and make Lockett feel more at ease about being away from home. Evans is anticipated to have a breakout year in 2024, having recorded 4 catches for 94 yards and 1 touchdown in the previous season.
