Mohanlal Shares Insights on Barroz, Reveals He Approached Hans Zimmer for Music

Mohanlal recently opened up about his directorial debut, Barroz 3D: Guardian of Treasures, which has been shot in native 3D. The fantasy drama marks a significant milestone in the actor’s career, but he also hinted it might be his only stint as a director.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Mohanlal shared his original vision of creating a 3D film that wouldn’t require viewers to wear glasses. However, the high costs of such a project led him to set the idea aside, eventually paving the way for Barroz. “I love doing impossible things,” he said, reflecting on his ambitious nature.

He also revealed that he reached out to Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer to score the music for the film, though the collaboration did not materialize. Despite the challenges, Barroz is shaping up to be a groundbreaking project in Indian cinema.

Mohanlal Assures Barroz‘s 3D Experience Will Be Comfortable, Shares Insights on Hans Zimmer’s Involvement

Mohanlal has reassured viewers that the 3D version of Barroz will not cause discomfort. “Luckily, we came up with a good product,” he said. “A few people watched the film, and thankfully, they didn’t get a headache. Generally, people say watching a 3D film gives them a headache, but that won’t be the case with Barroz. Everything fell into place perfectly.”

The actor-director also disclosed his efforts to involve Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer in the project. “I wrote a letter to Hans Zimmer asking if he could work on the film. He replied that he didn’t have much time,” Mohanlal revealed. Despite this, Zimmer’s influence is still present, as members of his musical team contributed to the soundtrack. “Eventually, some of Hans Zimmer’s musicians are playing in this film,” he added.

Mohanlal Confirms Barroz Will Be His Only Directorial Venture

During the conversation, Mohanlal revealed that he has no plans to direct more films after Barroz. The fantasy drama, based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure and penned by Jijo Punnoose, marks his directorial debut.

The movie features an ensemble cast, including Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram in significant roles. Barroz promises to be a visually stunning and unique cinematic experience, setting high expectations for its release.
