In the last moments, Gary Rowett might unleash “unplayable” Birmingham City potential.
Gary Rowett feels that Siriki Dembele will need to be at his peak during Birmingham City’s final stretch. The Blues forward needs to be prepared to have an influence on games as soon as the interim manager thinks it’s acceptable. Due to a foot ailment, Dembele hasn’t played for Blues since early March. Despite just rejoining the team, he hasn’t played a minute under Rowett.
Along with Jay Stansfield, Koji Miyoshi, Jordan James, and Juninho Bacuna, Dembele, a summer transfer from Bournemouth, is one of the team’s most significant players in the final third this season with six goals, although only one since November. After a conversation with the attacker, Rowett anticipates using him in the upcoming games as the Blues attempt to maintain their Championship standing for an additional campaign.
When attempting to temper Dembele’s brilliance as Millwall’s manager, Rowett was well aware of his quality. Being fully aware of his skills, Rowett is excited about the possibility of being able to employ the Ivorian in the run-in as and when needed. However, similar to George Hall, who was not selected for the squad on Monday, there are horses for courses.
Rowett stated, “He’s another I’ve spoken to.” “I’m sure most players are thinking, ‘I hope he really likes me and picks me directly,’ as I walk into the building. I believe that every player, or the majority of players, should desire to play every game. You must identify certain individuals with their unique attributes and work to position them to make an impact on games at the appropriate times. While certain games may not be suitable for certain players, others may.
“He’s a gifted athlete. I’ve competed for teams that he has represented. incredibly challenging to score; I believe that on the day we played Peterborough at Millwall, he was unplayable. When the time comes, we’ll need to see Dembs at his best, but for now, I can only start eleven players, so those are the choices I’ve made based on the football and my prior observations.”
