Deshaun Watson makes important comment on Browns-Steelers rivalry in sports.
The AFC North boasts several intense rivalries, making every matchup a must-watch due to the high quality of the teams.
Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson believes that one rivalry stands out among the best in all of sports: Browns vs. Steelers.
“Cleveland-Pittsburgh, for sure,” Watson said on his podcast, according to Troy Montgomery of SteelersDepot.com. “It’s even bigger than Cincinnati. It’s not Baltimore. Baltimore is up there, but it ain’t as real as Pittsburgh.”
The AFC North, formerly the AFC Central, has a long history of fierce rivalries. In the early ’70s, Browns-Steelers was particularly notable. By the end of the decade, the Steelers and Oilers clashed in consecutive AFC Championships.
The Browns and Steelers had a memorable Monday night game at the stadium formerly known as Heinz Field early last season. Pittsburgh leads the all-time series 81-63-1. This decade has been the closest in the rivalry’s history, with a 5-4 record.
This year, the Browns and Steelers won’t face each other until Week 12, with a rematch scheduled for Week 14.
There’s also a possibility they could meet in the postseason for the fourth time ever.
