Derby County
Derby County supporters will have mixed feelings about Birmingham City icon
Derby County has faced numerous strikers in the Championship who have enjoyed fixtures against the Rams and added to their season tallies.
While players like Billy Sharp and former Derby striker David Nugent have been leading marksmen against the East Midlands club, none have been more deadly than Birmingham City striker Lukas Jutkiewicz.
Lukas Jutkiewicz has had several notable opponents during his time in the Championship, but none more so than Derby County.
Despite facing formidable sides like Leeds United, Bristol City, Ipswich Town, and Blackburn Rovers, Jutkiewicz has particularly excelled against Derby. The experienced striker has scored 10 goals in 17 appearances against them in the Championship.
His first goal against the East Midlands club came during his second season with Coventry City, scoring in a 2-0 home win early in the campaign, which took his total to three goals in his first six league games for the Sky Blues.
Following his move to Middlesbrough, Jutkiewicz continued his goal-scoring form against Derby, scoring three times in the sides’ two league meetings that season. Remarkably, almost half of his goals for the entire 2012/13 season were against Derby.
A move to Premier League side Burnley provided Derby with some relief, and they managed to avoid conceding to Jutkiewicz for almost four seasons.
However, he broke his goal drought against Derby in the 2017/18 campaign, scoring his first goal of the season against them. Despite some struggles during the season, he managed to find the net against Derby five more times.
His next seven goals against Derby came while playing for Birmingham City, with his last two-goal performance against them securing an away victory in 2021.

Derby County have had the better of Lukas Jutkiewicz despite his goal-scoring record
As Derby County focuses on securing a spot in the top two this season, they’ll also be keeping a close eye on facing Birmingham City and their striker, Lukas Jutkiewicz, again next season. Derby has often prevailed against their Midlands rivals in recent years when Jutkiewicz has been in the lineup.
Since Jutkiewicz arrived permanently at St. Andrew’s in 2017, Derby has won seven of their last 17 meetings against Birmingham. However, they have failed to secure a victory against Birmingham since their 4-0 triumph in B9 at the end of 2020. Before that, Derby had gone unbeaten in nine games against Birmingham in the Championship.
While Derby aims to secure promotion, Birmingham is yet to secure their status in the second tier. If Derby does return to the Championship, they’ll be hoping to avoid facing Birmingham and Lukas Jutkiewicz, who has been a thorn in their side in recent encounters.
