Could Texas Boast the Top Quarterback Room in College Football?

Steve Sarkisian is poised to remain the head coach of the Texas Longhorns well beyond his current contract’s expiration in 2030, and his emphasis on building elite quarterback rooms is evident. As a former quarterback himself, Sarkisian’s recruiting efforts have drawn attention, particularly in assembling a notable quarterback room for the upcoming season. Headlined by Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, the Longhorns’ quarterback group has been ranked as the best in the nation by 247 Sports’ QB room rankings. This places Texas ahead of prominent programs like Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss, and Georgia, securing the top spot based on the potential of Manning and the Heisman-finalist talent of Ewers. Despite the talent of Ohio State’s quarterbacks, the combination of Manning and Ewers, along with incoming freshman Trey Owens, positions the Longhorns at the pinnacle. Ewers, who led Texas to a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance last season, and Manning, displaying promise in limited games as a freshman, contribute to the Longhorns’ star-studded quarterback room. Despite the departure of some quarterbacks, Texas is anticipated to showcase a formidable passing game with the talent surrounding Ewers and Manning. The upcoming Orange-White Spring Game on April 20 will provide a glimpse into the Longhorns’ quarterback prowess.
