Buccaneers Target Elite WR to Elevate Mayfield’s Offense in 2025!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may look to secure additional support for Baker Mayfield in the 2025 NFL Draft.

After a solid 10-win season following a nine-win campaign in 2023, the team has found stability at quarterback with Mayfield. However, there’s still significant work to be done. The defense requires attention to patch lingering gaps, head coach Todd Bowles’ position remains under scrutiny, and offensive coordinator Liam Coen might be in line for a promotion elsewhere in the league. This offseason will be pivotal for Tampa Bay’s future.

Adding to the uncertainty is Chris Godwin’s expiring contract. With Jalen McMillan emerging as a reliable wide receiver and the potential to add more talent in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Buccaneers could mitigate the impact of Godwin’s possible departure.

In a recent CBS Sports 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Tampa Bay is projected to use the No. 19 overall pick to select Ohio State star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, a major boost to their receiving corps.

“Given Mike Evans’ age and Chris Godwin coming off another major injury, the Buccaneers go back to the receiver well with the sizable and speedy Emeka Egbuka,” CBS Sports noted.

Egbuka, who is set to play his final collegiate game in the National Championship against Notre Dame, brings a combination of size and speed that could make him a standout addition to the Buccaneers’ offense. With Mike Evans nearing the twilight of his career and Godwin’s future uncertain, Egbuka could step in as a rookie, develop into a key playmaker, and eventually take on a leading role in Tampa Bay’s attack.

Mayfield has thrived since joining the Buccaneers, and adding a dynamic weapon like Egbuka could elevate the offense even further in the seasons to come.
