PEARL JAM/EDDIE VEDDER
Pearl Jam Wrap Up Their Dark Matter World Tour in Sydney: Here’s the latest update on the tour.
Pearl Jam wrapped up their Australian tour in Sydney, marking the final performance of their Dark Matter World Tour.
The tour consisted of 37 shows: 22 in the USA, five in Australia, three in Spain, two in Canada, two in New Zealand, and one each in the UK, Ireland, and Portugal.
Staying true to their tradition of never repeating a show, Pearl Jam played 143 unique songs across the 37 performances. Only two tracks, ‘Alive’ from the 1991 album Ten and ‘Wreckage’ from the 2024 album Dark Matter, were performed at every show.
The final Sydney concert featured two songs making their tour debut: Temple of the Dog’s ‘Hunger Strike’ and Bruce Springsteen’s ‘No Surrender’.
Temple of the Dog was a one-off collaboration featuring Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell on lead vocals, with Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Jeff Ament as the backing band, occasionally joined by Eddie Vedder as a guest singer. Pearl Jam hadn’t performed “Hunger Strike” since 2014, and their cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender,” which featured just Eddie Vedder on acoustic guitar, hadn’t been played since 2006.
