Texas Longhorns Football
Texas linebacker Anthony Hill targets former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield following the victory in the Red River Rivalry. Here’s the full story.
Texas Longhorns linebacker Anthony Hill delivered an outstanding performance during the team’s Red River Rivalry victory over the Oklahoma Sooners this past Saturday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
This strong showing was anticipated, as No. 1 Texas entered the game favored against No. 18 Oklahoma.
Hill recorded an impressive 11 total tackles, consisting of 7 solo tackles and 4 assists, along with two sacks. However, it was his actions after the game that truly stood out.
Following Texas’ win, Hill and teammate Barryn Sorrell took former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield’s No. 6 jersey to the center of the field and performed what appeared to be a symbolic sacrifice, planting the Texas flag through the jersey.

“I just felt like it was the right thing for me to do,” Hill said to Fox Sports about the celebration. “I’d seen all the stuff [Oklahoma] posted last year, so I felt like it was right for me to get a little touch of something on them.”
