Exclusive: Burnley offer manager’s job to boss who Vincent Kompany once called ‘amazing’
The loss of Vincent Kompany has left Burnley in disarray, but they may soon be in the process of selecting their new manager.
Even though Kompany led the Clarets to relegation, Bayern Munich was able to acquire the Belgian midfielder.
Burnley’s higher-ups acknowledged that Kompany had no choice but to attend one of the biggest clubs in the world.
But the Burnley board moved swiftly to choose a new manager, and it appears they may have found the person they are looking for.
Burnley offers Frank Lampard a position to take Vincent Kompany’s place.
TBR Football has learned that conversations are now in progress over Frank Lampard’s acceptance of Burnley’s head coaching offer.
The Clarets have been discussing their preferred course of action for replacing Vincent Kompany and evaluating their possibilities.
After leaving his position at Everton in 2023, Lampard took on the role of Chelsea’s temporary manager. Since then, he has been unemployed.
The former Chelsea midfielder is still well-liked in the sport, so it’s safe to say that he made an impression at Turf Moor given his standing.
Lampard wants to make a statement.
Although going for Lampard may seem like a strange choice to some, his previous two positions have required him to perform under pressure.
Week by week, he allowed Everton to continue operating under a board, broke and without funds. He was at Chelsea to right the ship, having been somewhat out of his element during his first spell.
But Lampard performed admirably against Derby, and Burnley will be hoping he can do even better.
Lampard is such a wonderful coach; in the past, even Vincent Kompany called him that.
A bit of a dangerous appointment, really. However, given his name, Burnley is certain to draw major players this summer, and Lampard might be just what the team needs.
